Family home extension

Dolphin House - a family home situated in the most prestigious road in Exeter involved the demolition of the rear corner of the building and existing orangery to allow the construction of a contemporary kitchen, diner extension.

Large steels supporting the rear of the house and also cantilevered with 7cubic metres of concrete in the ground mitigated the need for a corner post to the new extension allowing for the installation of triple glazed sliding aluminium corner doors with uninterrupted views of the vast mature gardens.

A rubber roof membrane, two large roof lights one of which is 3 metres in length and a bespoke powder coated aluminium fascia with concealed gutter allowed a coherent mix of materials including brick to match the existing property and Canadian cedar cladding to bring additional texture from Harriet Ziegler's design and vision for this unique property.

Renovation

Originally built as a timber framed bungalow on Dartmoor National Park with outstanding views of the moor this property had over the years received the addition of no less than 5 extensions. Our task was directed from the new owners and architect to make it a more cohesive liveable home. Requirements for this project included the additional installation of padstones throughout the main structure, replacement of substantial timbers to maintain the large roof and a large set of steels to support the rear elevation of the property measuring in excess of  7metres. Dealing with the ecologists to maintain the integrity of the existing bat roost was paramount to this project as was communication with the conservation officer to ensure a sympathetic approach to the moor during construction was maintained. With underfloor heating throughout, two large vaulted ceilings, various roof lights and some hefty green oak beams to give more character to the property were just a few of the elements undertaken by the team on this project.

Another 1980's construction we have completely refurbished within this road. With removal of all ceilings, re-wiring of electrics, new plumbing and radiators throughout, oil fired boiler, wet room, bathroom, kitchen, utility, windows and bi-fold doors, structural alterations underground drainage and a new patio.

Home Improvements

Home improvements - kitchens, bathrooms and wet rooms - as an approved installer for Wedi Wetroom systems we have been installing wet rooms since 2006, whether it's on a ground floor or first floor we have a choice of systems to cope with all circumstances to ensure a leak free wetroom, we also install steam rooms. Kitchens are a passion so try to involve us early on for guidance and advice on design, choice of suppliers, and trends.

New Build

This state of the art new build encompasses all the construction and ancillary equipment most new home owners try to incorporate, with an air source heat pump keeping the highly insulated property warm, a mechanical ventilation heat recovery system providing fresh air without losing heat, solar panels and storage batteries providing sufficient power to run the property and feed back into the grid, zinc standing seam roof, triple glazed alu-clad windows, drainage and attenuation tank, wrapped in a facing brick to match the surrounding terrace properties and detailed in a fire treated Canadian cedar cladding, all achieved within a restricted site in a conservation area.
